Yanis Bulbik received his electrical engineering education from Krasnoyarsk State Technical University (KSTU) in 1962. He earned the Ph.D. degree at Ural Polytechnical Institute (1970). He worked as an associate professor at KSTU from 1971 up to 1976 and then as a principal research associate at the R&D Electrical Instrumentation Lab of KSTU. From 1991 up to 1993, he took the position of principal research associate at The Institute of Space Technology (Krasnoyarsk). Presently, he is a professor at the Siberian Aerospace Academy. His main research activity is related to the development of nondestructive evaluation techniques for the inspection of advanced composites, particularly, aerospace components. He has published more than 140 technical papers and he is responsible for over 20 inventions in the NDE field. He is a member of the Russian Academy for Quality Engineering and an active member of the New York Academy of Sciences. He is the head of Measurements and Instrumentation Department of the Russian Engineering Academy, Siberian Branch.
